I personally noted a marked increase in spell checker when I downloaded
and installed the international pack from Ritlabs ... I wanted to use
the British English dictionary. :-)

I remember clearly, in my early TB! days, when the spell checker would
be very slow when it was supposed to be fast. I then switched to the
CSAPI (common speller API) and this dramatically speeded things up. It
was when I reinstalled NT and didn't reinstall MS Office that I went
looking for the international pack and installed it, that the
spellchecker speeded up. At the moment, the choice list appears almost
instantaneously.
