Hi ,

On 23 November 2000 at 23:28:57 +0200 (which was 21:28 where I
live) Ratty Longlegs wrote and made these points:

Quite right.

The only time you should see an image is if it is included with the
mail as an attachment and correctly referred to.

This is a common question with a simple answer: TB is an email client
and not a browser. Although it is capable of displaying formatted HTML
it is not capable of running scripts, ActiveX nor is it capable of
going on-line to perform a GET operation on an out-of-line referenced
image. So it shows a place-marker instead.

To see embedded images that are not included in the message, change to
the text view and double click on the HTML attachment to have it open
in your favourite browser which *is* capable of doing all of these
things.

It is these very restrictions that keep us TB users immune from the
automated viral attacks that have plagued our Outlook Express bound
brethren.
