Hallo Melissa,
I had a worse problem when I was visiting my mother and logged in
through Hamburg.de.
When sending company email with my Taiwanese edmail address as sender,
I couldn't send, because Hamburg.de wouldn't let me use their smtp
server (even though I was logged in through them). They don't allow
usage of their smtp server when the sender details are not a valid
account with them.
I couldn't use my Taiwanese smtp server, because I was *not* logged in
through them, and the error message from my Taiwanese smtp server was
"We don't relay".
Of course, I have International Roaming on my Taiwanese account, but
the roaming service provider in Germany will only send encrypted
passwords, and the Taiwanese provider will only accept clear-text...
:-(
So I ended up sending from my GMX address and use the GMX smtp server.
But of course, that From address confused all my workmates as well as
my customers....
At least Earthlink will let you use their smtp server when you are
logged in through them, regardless of your From address. When I am
logged in through my Taiwanese ISP, I can use their smtp server for
any From address, or can use any smtp server which will accept my
mails.
