You seem to have to auto-format option enabled in your editor
preferences. Disabling the option will allow you to do what you wish.
However, disabling auto-format will prevent text re-wrapping when
you're editing already wrapped text. In such a situation, simply hit
ALT+L, after making the changes to the paragraph. Note however, that
ALT+L will not treat paragraphs denoted by a tab in as paragraphs. It
picks up a paragraphs as text blocks separated by blank lines.
All of this behaviour stems from the fact that TB!'s editor doesn't
use soft returns.
