Hi!
on Monday, February 05, 2001 16:42:10, our bat friend Lars Geiger typed:
KE>> accessible... This means that there isn't an easy way to get
KE>> to 'em and manipulate them.
LG> What easier way than clicking on them are you looking for? :-)
Normally you can just look for check boxes and click them, but
unfortunately for us blind people who have to use screen readers which
convert the info on screen to in my case speech and braille, the check
boxes are non-standard, which means that the check boxes don't show up
as such but rather as graphics with just a number, eg "graphic 475".
This of course makes it very hard for me to determine if the box is
ticked or not unless you use the trial and error method.
LG> Well, you can still right-click on the checkboxes to toggle their
LG> status, to mark all, un-mark all, etc.
Interesting piese of info there...
KE>> Oh yes, there are shortcuts, but there isn't an easy way to
KE>> see if these boxes are checked or not.
LG> Well, actually you can *see* if they are checked or not. Or am I
LG> getting you wrong?
See explanation above...
KE>> [...] asking them to please make KE> KE> the check boxes in
KE>> the dispatcher "more standard". Thanks for the explanation,
KE>> Thomas.
LG> In what respect do you think of them as 'non-standard'?
Since they are written in Delphi, i think, and Delphi uses its own
controls which doesn't look like the windows controls, Screen readers
doesn't recognize them for what they are, but rather see them as just
graphics. Maybe someone more experienced in programming could tell me
if you can use common controls in Delphi or if you have to use the
controls provided by the Delphi environment. (I think TB is written in
delphi, but i could be wrong.)
