Someone (sorry I can't remember who at this moment) sent a question or comment
in response to the people who filter all HTML formatted email messages straight
to the trash, asking if it was possible to strip the formatting from incoming
mail. I may have come up with a less than elegant solution but would like
someone else to test it out. It worked during my few lame tests but by no means
am I willing to say it'll work in all cases.
Here's the setup.
1. Create a new filter for incoming mail (I called mine HTML strip)
2. Put it either first in the list or right after any spam filters you may have
set up.
3. Set to filter on:
Content-Type: multipart/alternative
or
Content-Type: multipart/mixed
in kludges
4. Move to folder should be set to Inbox
5. In the action tab set:
a. _Delete message_ (though you may want to wait on this till it's thoroughly
tested!) and then check:
b. _Create a Message for_ and enter the email address for whatever account you want
it sent to.
c. Set the template to something like this:

%FROM="" %FROM="%OFROMNAME<%OFROMADDR>"
%SUBJECT="%OSUBJ"

6. Under Options|Network & Administration check the _Allow local delivery_ box.
(this allows the new message created by the filter to be immediately routed to
your inbox. If not checked the created message will be sent to yourself - still
works but with a major wasted step.)
That's it. Like I said, it's works pretty slick on my few test tries. I'm sure
I'm missing something that will either get past the filter or cause the filter
to catch something it shouldn't and that's why I'm asking you TB! wizards to
give it a test under fire. Maybe we can sharpen this thing up into a useful
tool. Then again, maybe I don't have a clue what I'm talking about.
I think I included all the settings I used. If it doesn't work for you let me
know and I'll double check everything.
