Before this problem was fixed, yes it was a defect. All functionality
via the preview window should be available via the view folder window.
After-all, the preview window is just that ... the preview window. :=)

Memo support is available via the view folder window in the current
version.
It's a little buggy in that when you toggle on the memo view, you
cannot add a memo to the message that is already selected. You have to
move to another message where the save button becomes active. The save
button should really be active from the moment you open the memo view.
To further clarify the issue, upon further testing I've noted that the
buggy behaviour described occurs only when the preview window is
disabled. In fact, if the preview window is disabled, one cannot
create new memos *at all* using the main windows message list. If the
preview window is enabled, memo functionality is fine via both the
main window and via the view folder windows.
