This did try several DOS-extensions, beginning with JPG. I managed
finally to open one of the files (in 602Photo and a couple of other
image editors) after saving it--even without the extension but *not*
with it! The other one doesn't work that way. It does, however, by
adding the .JPG extension open up a tiny unusable version of the same
file as the first. (It should contain the image of a Registration
Form.)

I originally requested the files to upload to a web site. I trust the
source. But I certainly agree with your warning about the potential
danger.
Thanks, Dierk, for the input. I haven't had any experience with Mac
email attachments but now I've begun reading the Stuffit information
pages. I'm also in touch with the man who created and sent me the
attachments. However this turns out, it doesn't seem that TB! is being
helpful in the way the attachments are being received. Or maybe I need
some kind of third party program to deal with them.
