I humbly try.

This macro pulls a name (or whatever you want) out of a specified AB
entry. The syntax you can find in the help. So instead of using the
usual macros that pull the name from the address itself (more or less)
you can us %ABnnnPPP to create a personal opening.

For some entries in my AB's I use "Nickname (Handle)" to fill in a
nickname (which is not quite correct usage). There is a young lady
called Romy (First Name) who I normally call Principessa (Nickname).

If I now have a mass mailing using a QT I either have to fill in some
of the names by hand or use a neutral opening or ... do the following:

Hello %ABTOHandle="%TOFNAME"!

This provides those, who have a nickname like Romy with a personal
message: *Hello Principessa!* Others will get *Hello John Doe!*

I just asked Ritlabs to include a field especially for this purpose
since people with the same nickname give the problem that the handle
has to be unique (no Tom, Dick or Harry).

With just another field we could get the option to even sign
personally (well, that is, without ill use of the AB).

Hope that was of help to you.
