It's that wonderful smoothed out look that fonts get when they're quite
large in windows. The option to enable anti-aliasing is found in the
desktop properties/effects/smooth edges of screen fonts.

To see what I mean, disable the option and then display say Times New
Roman at size 20. Re-enable the option and see how much better the font
looks. :=)
