Hello All,

About a month ago, I transferred all my data to a new computer. Since
then (though I can't swear with absolute certainty that the problem
didn't exist before), I have had problems with the address book. This
problem has persisted through version 1.51 (and possibly even 1.50)
and all of the 1.52 betas. Basically, though I can use and edit the
existing address book entries, I can only add new entries to a new
address book. When I fill out the new contact form and hit OK, the
form remains on the screen for several seconds and then disappears,
but the address is not added (this is actually an improvement - at one
point, it would shut the program down). Also, although I have 3
address books in my Mail folder, only 2 of them show up when I open
the program. I can open the third and use/edit it (and add contacts,
which I can't do in the other two), but if I close and restart the
program, it's gone again. If I try importing the third address book, I
get a message saying that 2 address have been added, but they don't
show up anywhere.

I know that when I first transferred everything over, I had only an
empty address book (and it crashed the program whenever I tried to add
a contact), but I did eventually get the two address books I had at
that time to show up (though I have to confess that I don't remember
how I did it - I know it involved renaming files). I thought that
everything was fine until I went to add a new address the other day -
the only way I could do it was to create the third address book,
which, as I say, disappears every time I restart the program. In case
it's relevant, the program is stored in "F:\Program Files\The Bat!",
the Mail folder is "F:\Shauna\My Documents\Mail" and it contains 3
address books: Contacts.ABD, Family.ABD, Tech.ABD. Contacts and Family
are the two that show up when I start the program.

Anyway, tonight I decided to see if uninstalling and then reinstalling
version 1.51 would help, and promptly ran into another problem. The
first time I went into Control Panel-Add/Remove Programs and clicked
on The Bat, I got the following error message:

Exception ERegistryException in module TBat_DEL.exe at 0000729B.
Failed to get data for Language.

I then tried just re-running the install program, but both the address
book and uninstall problems remained, even if I removed the program
folder first. Finally, for lack of any better ideas, I installed
beta/12 (I'd been using beta/11 before). (I also downloaded the
thebat.lng file and put it in the program folder, but its
presence/absence doesn't appear to make any difference.) Now, the
address book problem remains, but if I try to uninstall, I get the "Do
you want to remove The Bat!?" dialogue, followed by this error
message (even if I now revert to 1.51):
Error cleaning up The Bat! program directory.
        Uninstall aborted.

So, I'm fresh out of ideas. Does anyone have any suggestions? I
apologize for being so long-winded, but I hope I've managed to make
the problem clear.

Best regards,
Shauna
