Hi,
Yes, I agree with Cricket here. Having a Lite
version of The Bat for unregistered users will
bring in many more potential users. In fact, I
think the best time to do this would be when v2.0
of The Bat is released. v2.0 will be for the
registered users, while Bat Lite (based on v1.x code
base) can be used to promote The Bat to new users
either by free unlimited usage or charging a
minimal registration fees (like US$10?).
I live in Asia (Singapore) where many people find
US$35 to be too much to pay for an email client,
despite its features. Please remember that in many
Third World countries, the average income is far
lesser than those in the US or EU. FYI, US$35 is
equivalent to S$65, and you can eat at lease 16
meals (foodcourt) here with that amount of money.
Anyway, I think the original poster (Christian Dysthe)
didn't advocate having just one easy-to-use Bat
mailer, but rather have two versions of The Bat,
one Lite and one "normal" version.
Thanks.
