The actual string isn't particularly clear from what you say here. For
instance, square brackets have a special meaning in filter strings.

Has the "manual" switch been inadvertently turned on? Are there any
strange option settings?

Sometimes filters seem to get corrupted and, with such a simple
filter, it is often easiest to simply delete it and start over.
