Easily remedied: Open IE, go to its preferences dialogue, choose
another mail client as default, click OK. Again go to preferences,
choose TB! as your default mailer, click OK.

Now TB! should be your system's default mailer. Now open Opera, go to
its preferences and you will be able to choose "Use system default"
with TB! as mailer.
