The key here is to compress the inbox regularly. This may be
achieved by enabling compression of the inbox folder on exit by
enabling 'compress' in the folder properties.
All incoming messages are added to the inbox message base. Even
thought they may be immediately filtered they're still added and the
only way to truly delete them is to compress the folder.
If you keep TB! running for days and you receive thousands of
messages per day then you may need to do intermittent manual
compressions.
You should do this with any folder in which mail is deleted often.
