Though there are other reasons some may not want to use a 7.x version
(source code issue), I do like to point out that plug-ins are *not*
necessary for PGP to be used with *any* mail client or text editor -
including with The Bat!.
I use The Bat! with both PGP v7.0.3. and GnuPG 1.06. No plug-ins
(well, there is a plug-in for the GnuPG, but I still prefer using the
HotKeys provided via GnuPGshell instead). I prefer using HotKeys with
both PGP and GnuPG, and there are also the menus provided via
PGPtray/Current Window and GnuPGtray/Current Window ("current window"
feature new in GnuPGshell v1.91).
I do think that TB! is the greatest mail client, and if one uses a
version of PGP or GnuPG that has a plug-in for it that's great too (if
you like the way plug-ins work), but please don't forget that with
HotKeys and PGPtray/GnuPGtray/Current Window options, PGP and GnuPG
can be used anywhere - plug-ins or not.
