I am not sure that making The Bat! more like LookOut Distress is the
way to go. When I switched (from Eudora 4) the numbered replies was
one of the features that I immediately liked. I was tired of seeing
multiple Re:s and dealing with the fact that different clients treated
replies in different ways.

This feature along with message threading make The Bat! the premier
client for managing mail from lists.
