I had already allowed calls by Opera & TB! and have no server. This
was coming from an unidentified application from an assortment of IP
addresses. I keep pages from a variety of news sources open on the
browser which I refresh daily and maybe some do querying, but the
IPs would vary a lot, since I did quite a few rules against a number
of them.

Done. No more problems of either kind so far (no atGuard alerts &
Opera has kept on trucking). Thanks for the tip.
