You can sort by subject and by date.

Do the date sorting as I mentioned in the previous message. To also
sort by subject you have to thread the messages by going to
View/View Threads by/Subject or just hitting Alt+2.

It's hard to draw any solid conclusions here since most of your
subjects in your screen shot start with 'Re' and the all the
exceptions except for the first entry begin with 'S'. I can't really
detect what chronologic pattern is used when sorting by subject the
way you're doing.
