Ok, I solved it now. It seemed that some the system crash really
corrupted message base files. What I found were messages which hada
header, but the message text displayed was from a different message
and ended in the middle of the text. After deleting these messages
(which were useless anyway) the backup runs without problems and the
folders which contained these are backuped as well.

It was really time-consuming to find these messages. I moved single
folders to a separate account and tried backing that up. If there was
an error, I tried to find out which excact folder it was. Then I had
to find the message, either by copying these to a different folder,
or, once I knew what to look for, looking for "broken" messages.

to RIT: Please offer some help to solve those problems. Two solutions
I can think of:

- Implement some kind of "check Message base" function. This would
check each message/folder if that was corrupted.

- During backup, instead of only displaying that error message (which
is of no help at all), display some message like "error ocurred when
reading/writing message <Subject> <recieved> in folder <foldername>

One of these functions would have saved me a lot time...
