Outlook PST files are a law unto themselves. However, I nearly have a
solution:

1. If you open the Outlook Address Book, you can select all the
contacts in one folder, right-click and choose Copy to Personal
Folder. That copies the records to a .PAB file, which Outlook Express
can partially understand.

2. You can then start Outlook Express and choose to import from the
Personal Address book that is associated with my Outlook profile.

3. Outlook Express 5.5 has an option to export the information to a
Windows Address Book.

4. You can use WAB2LDIF to convert the Windows Address Book to
something that TB can understand.

Unfortunately, Outlook Express has a bug in its import from PAB
routine -- it doesn't import the snail-mail addresses, notes, or
telephone numbers. So, this information never makes it to the WAB
file. Since most of my listed contacts have telephone numbers,
addresses, etc., for me, this route is less useful than doing the
transfer with individual vCards. However, anyone who is replacing
Outlook with TB and who only wants names and email addresses in their
TB address book should find the above process useful.

Now, if only I can find some way of getting OE5.5 to import the
telephone numbers etc...
