You get that when someone already is entered in the address book with that nickname. I believe the nicknames(handles) have to be unique. You can have duplicate first and last names but you can't have more than one nickname the same ( I think :). This can become a headache when importing from a file or program that lets you have duplicate nicknames. If you are importing make sure you don't bother to import the nickname field or else change the names to be unique.
