Yes, that's right. But in Alastair's case, it was a filter at the top of
the filtering list, that did only delete certain messages from the
server. So, all the sorting or colour coding or whatever was done by
filters further down the list. If you didn't activate the "Continue ..."
option for such filters, you would have a funny time to find out why all
your messages suddenly stayed in your Inbox.

No need to do that. :-) "Continue processing ..." is only necessary for
filters which do some general tasks (colour coding, for instance) to a
wider range of messages before some special filters take over for
specialised actions, like sorting in folders, for example.

At least that's what I use this option for.
