This sort of works. I copied my mail directory onto a CDROM. A new
account was set up and I had its mail directory point to the CDROM
drive.

This gives me access to the messages. The Bat! complained when I
(inadvertly) tried to change some attributes, but that is logical.
Also, starting The Bat! with the CDROM not its drive, results in a
number of error messages (no access to sent, inbox, outbox).

I guess I can find some workarounds but it is a not so elegant solution.
