  That's *definitely* the way to do it because all you
  have to do is to make the one change in the QT & it
  affects any msg that uses a template that includes
  that particular QT.

  In your template you 'include' (or call) your QTs by
  using %QINCLUDE in the format %QINCLUDE="QT name".
  Ultimately, IMO, all templates should be made up of
  $INCLUDEs.

  Works for me, anyway.
