In a sense, yes. You're really telling TB! through these templates and
macros what to automatically do with the new, reply or forward message
that you generate.

It means unquoted text. Your text above is quoted because each line is
preceded by 'a> '. OTOH, my text isn't quoted. The %Text macro will just
output the original message body as is, without quoting it.

Say your message id is 'azrael123'.
I reply to your message and you have threading by references enabled. TB!
examines my message headers where it will see the following two lines:
Message ID: <allie567>
In-Reply-To: <azrael123>
TB! will link our two messages together since your message ID is the ID of
the message I'm replying to.
Another message comes your way and this one has the following lines:
Message ID: <jasper890>
In-Reply-To: <azrael123>
Here TB! again realises that the message is a direct reply to yours and
links them together in the thread. The thread will look as below:

Say that yet another person writes and the headers contain:
Message ID: <Mutt4455>
In-Reply-To: <allie567>
TB! will detect that this is a reply to my message since my message ID is
the one stated in the headers as the message being replied to. The thread
