Well, I've never used SecureBat (still happy iwth InsecureBat <g>),
but I switched from storing attachments externally to internally for
the following reasons:

1.) The attachment names did not necessarily match, i.e. if two
messages come in with the same attachment name, the second will get a
number added to the name. It was impossible for me to find out whcih
mail the attachment message23.msg belonged to.

2.) The attachments were deleted when a copy of the mail is deleted
from trash (fixed in the current beta).

3.) Some attachments where never deleted, so that my attachment
directory kept growing and I had to manually go through them and
delete attachments for which I thought I don't have a message any
more. Later it turned out in some cases, that the message did in fact
exist, as it was parked, but now had to attachment any more.

Number 2 and 3 together made the attachment directory impractical for
me. I now store the attachments in the body, and those attachments I
want to keep I save manually.

Arguments agaisnt storing attachments in message body:

1.) It slows down the message base, as it is much bigger then.

2.) Some people need the attachment as a seperate file to work with,
but it still needs to be connected to a particular message.
