I use the default location for my mailboxes, which nested within the
program files folder. This folder cannot be shared over the network in
XP. I don't know about earlier nt versions since I came to XP from ME.
If I don't separate out my attachments I cannot share them or access
them over the network unless I want to reconfigure the whole TB!
setup.
