Currently, The Bat! only supports fixed width fonts (like Courier New). This is an item on the wish list, and possibly support for non-fixed width fonts will appear in the next version (already implemented in the current beta). For now, you can go here to look at some fixed-width fonts that you might like: http://home.bsu.edu/prn/monofont/index.html.; However, the fix below might work for you until support is added, but be forewarned that this is not a supported action: If you absolutely need variable-width fonts, you can manually edit your registry, in particular, these sections of it: HKEY_USERS\.Default\Software\RIT\The Bat!\Editor\Font HKEY_USERS\.Default\Software\RIT\The Bat!\Rich Text If you manually edit the name of the font to be used, The Bat! will obey... But be advised, that if, for example, you enter "Arial", you'll hardly be able to read anything :-) (http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/messages.html#54E) Why? Well, the only way of providing column cut / paste / formatting support is to force the use of fixed pitch fonts. And it promotes the WYSIWYG side of the equation where message formats become constant. Okay, and it facilitates ASCII art :-). > And related to this: I have a number of Thai mono spaced fonts as > well, but they don't work. Is that because they are non-Latin? Odd. I'd say it was because they either do not correctly indicate that they are real Mono fonts or something like that. Maybe they call themselves "mono" but are defined internally as standard variable pitch fonts. Any real mono fonts will work. > When will The Bat! be able to handle non Latin fonts? Next release? It already does handle non-latin fonts in the current release. Let's face it, Cyrillic is a must, with the software coming from Moldova. > I'm looking to set up some mailing lists. I think your point is that you don't like having to set up individual contact records for the list. There's no way around that in TB. > In the address books three different colours: blue, green and red. > What is the significance? Blue - local, TB maintained address books Green - external LDAP address books Red - CA address books containing Certification Authority certificates (for S/MIME). > How do I share address books, or make them global? I'm not sure. I know of one user who has placed an address book on a shared network folder and the added it as, at first, a new Address Book (File | New address book) then made that the default. That works okay as a shared address book BUT, changes must only be made by a designated "Adminstrator" and won't be seen by other users until they reload TB. - -- Cheers -- .\\arck D.
