Actually, the coverage of Templates in the Help is pretty good, even
if I say so myself. There's a good basic explanation under "Templates
General Concept" and a lot of detail in the various break downs with
examples and links to the macro sections. Then there's the essay on
them at the FAQ site, which is superb. I don't think that the original
questioner looked... or possibly didn't get that term "Templates"
applied to the issue.
