Hello Ron. At 8:47 PM on Sunday, May 05, 2002 you wrote the following about [Displaying address group entries]:
Ron> When I "right click" in the "To:" field, what I want to Ron> see is a list of categories like I mentioned before. Ron> When positioning the cursor, I would like to see a Ron> sub-menu. The *only* way I found is to set favorites on Ron> every entry and that will satisfy the condition of Ron> showing addresses under that category. Unfortunately, Ron> it also lists the "favorites" before listing the Ron> categories. In my case, that is a substantial number of Ron> entries. Ron> For example, setup 2 or more folders under "Personal Ron> Addresses". In order to see the members of that folder, Ron> the "favorites" must be checked. But, when "right Ron> clicking" in the "To:" field, the favorites from all Ron> the folders are listed *before* the folders themselves. Ron> The solution mentions earlier about clicking on the Ron> address book icon will satisfy my me. Glad you've found a satisfactory solution to your problem, however I'd like to point out a couple of things which may not be apparent that may save you a few steps. The 'favorites' selection works two ways: independently in the main address book & within groups. The best way to explain it is to suggest you create a new msg. In the new msg window: Click the down arrow to the right of the To: entry area to get a list of addresses used in recent history. Click the Address Book icon to get a list of names by group, each of which contains all the names in that group [personal addresses]. You can select the group by clicking the down arrow @ the top of the AB dialogue window. [It defaults to 'Address Book' I believe.] This is what you are using currently. However, right clicking in the entry area of 'To:" will provide list of all groups, whose members can be viewed independently. Depending on group options & where you select your favorites you can have different results. All of the following affects the information you will see when you right click in the To: entry area. Open the Address Book. If you look @ an Address Book *Group* properties, there are several options. [Add items] will display the group name & all the individual names within a group that you have also selected as 'Favorites' within the group. Selecting a 'Favorite' in the main AB will display those names before the group lists. So if you *don't* select any favorites in the main AB, but only from within the group, only the group names [ie personal addresses, biz addresses, etc] will show up in the right click list. You can scroll to each of these groups which will then display all the names from that group that you have selected as Favorites within the group. [Hide items] prevents unselected names from appearing in the main AB thus making the AB a list of all those who do not belong to any specific group. Obviously un-checking this creates some redundancy which can also prove useful. Its sounds a bit convoluted [at least it was for me] but it really isn't. However I do think you can do *exactly* what you want to do within TB! with fewer steps than you are now taking. Good luck. -- Jan Rifkinson Ridgefield, CT USA TB!
