They will work only with the message list in focus whether you're using the message list in the main window or a view folder window. BTW, the main window is the window containing the account tree, message list and preview panel. What you seem to be calling the main window is the View Folder Window. Focus on the message list and you can expand threads. Focus on the message list and you'll still be able to scroll messages with the space bar. This is what I do so I know that it works. If it doesn't for you then we're not referring to the same things. This isn't a buggy aspect of TB! so let's work through it. You may end up realizing that it doesn't do things exactly the way you wish but I don't get the impression that you've fully discovered and understand what and how it will work for you. >> To do this you have to expand the thread/s in question before starting >> or don't use threading. RD> I would if I could, but I haven't yet found the way to do it. RD> I can now expand threads in the message window, but not in the main RD> window. ?? I don't understand this. What are you calling the message window? A 'view folder..' window? If you focus on the message list then the shortcuts will work. The same for view folder window and main window. RD> What is the point of the blue arrow icons in the main window RD> toolbar if they only go between thread starts? These arrows do not take you to the next/previous unread message. They take you to the next/previous visible/displayed message in the list (messages within unexpanded threads aren't visible/displayed). To move to the next unread message, you have to use the shortcuts. In a view folder, go to the 'navigation' menu and you'll see the choices there with the shortcuts. RD> Perhaps it would help if someone could tell me what spacebar and the RD> arrow icons are actually supposed to do? Are they configureable? The spacebar will scroll messages. When you've reached the end of a message and hit the spacebar again, it will move you one message down the list. However, it will not auto-expand threads. RD> A three button key press (Ctrl-Alt-Right arrow) is not an option RD> for me to read through my mail - neither is not using threading. RD> My current mail reader (Pluto on RISC OS) allows me to click on an RD> icon to quickly go through unread mail in threads. Agent lets me RD> use the space bar to do a similar thing with news on the PC. I agree with you there. I therefore use the freeware utility PowerPro to remap keys. I use 'N' to move to the next unread message. :-) It's a long grouse with me and others. This is why the reconfigurable shortcuts panel was developed. It doesn't seem to allow single key shortcuts so I still use PowerPro. - -- -=Allie C Martin=- List Moderator | TB! v1.60m | Windows XP Pro PGP/GPG Public Key: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?Subject=2B0717E2 _________________________________________________________________ -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- iD8DBQE89TWoV8nrYCsHF+IRAp2dAJ96fvCUlt00koeBCKaYQpu3LuH1mgCg7A/G epavDb3QSWGiYKOMcveNK0A= =iemQ -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- ________________________________________________________ Current Ver: 1.60m FAQ : http://faq.thebat.dutaint.com Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Bug Reports: https://bt.ritlabs.com
