Hello tbudl, After some experimentation, I have finally got to the bottom of what causes the problem I have with TB losing focus when it first starts, and not getting it back.
The problem is linked to BlackIce. My usual working login does not have admin rights, so when BlackIce starts, it pops up an message to say that I don't have admin rights, and that changes to the settings will not be saved. This is cleared with an OK button. TB starts automatically from the Startup folder, so if I am not watching over the PC as it boots, I come back to find that TB has focus, and that the BlackIce message is in the background waiting to be cleared with a click on OK. If I click on OK, then the BlackIce icon appears in the Notification Area on the Task Bar, and BlackIce looses focus. Once this focus is lost*, there is nothing that I can do to get it back - I have to close TB from the Notification Area icon menu, and restart it. Maybe this is something to do with having TB minimise to a Notification Area icon - either way, I think it is a bug. Is it, and should I report it as such? The other programs that run from Startup do not have problems with focus - this only seems to affect TB. Julian *Strangely, it is not fully lost - I can bring up the right-click menu in TB, but I cannot operate menus or icons. -- Best regards, Julian mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Using The Bat! v1.60p on Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 ________________________________________________________ Current Ver: 1.60q FAQ : http://faq.thebat.dutaint.com Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Bug Reports: https://bt.ritlabs.com
