I am not sure what part is cumbersome you're referring to.

Try Mailbox controller, as you found. Now at the bottom, click on
Action.  Pick Mailboxes-> And pick Reset Mask. Now it seems to accept
all mailboxes it can find.  So you can tick them off their checkboxes
however you like.  I just figured this all out by trial and error, as
I found no documentation, and folks didn't seem to know about it.
I have no idea what Add mask does.
