I wouldn't use it for an email to an individual. On an email list, it allows you sort a mailbox by which email list the item has been sent to, or to filter by the addressee, which is something I do quite frequently, as I'm the moderator on several lists & often get email sent directly to me with the name of the list in the subject line; if I filter by subject line or kludges, the emails go into the mailbox for that list, when I prefer to keep them separate so I can deal with them first.
