If you're manually getting there this is true, and I wouldn't thread.
In any good threading client, including TB!, you're offered shortcuts
to:
a) move you to the next unread message in threads, and in so doing,
automatically opening and drilling down into threads to get to those
unread messages as needed. In TB! this is CTRl-] or CTRL+Alt+right.
b) move you to the previously viewed message. This is Alt-left. To
take you back through the messages you reviewed using Alt-left, use
Alt-right instead.
