There is another tab in there that shows the intimate details of the Dial-up connection progress. If it is stalled, that's where you'll find out why. BTW - one common error in configuring DUN connections is to leave "Log On to Network" checked, which slows the connection process down immensely and fails to do anything with most ISP PPP connections.
