If you were right on this, it would be illegal to underline in books, or make notes in the margins. If your logic were employed, you would need to be prevented from cutting and pasting, because you might then type in the middle of the pasted text. The idea that incoming mail has to be frozen to comply with copyright laws is silly. As for your second reason, that is just as wrongheaded. By that logic, you would have to make it impossible to delete a file once it gets on your computer, in case anyone ever wanted to use is as evidence. -- Dwight A.
