Are you sure the downloading process is halted since the plug-in
doesn't do this.

What does happen is that when messages with attachments come in, the
plugin checks these attachments. When it does, the NOD32 main window
flickers into view for a fleeting moment and then disappears. As a
side effect, you lose window focus.
