Gavin, in other situations, TB databases can go lost, as well: if
there is a virus and the avirus app is set to "attempt to clean and
delete if unsuccessful", the whole of the mesage base can be awept
away.

The routines I take to avoid this are as follows:

Backup TB once a week if you receive many, important working mails:
this is easy to do, just use the backup feature in TB (very good
indeed) and have the backup on a disk other than c:

Park the important messages and they wont go lost from the data base
in case of system failures; you can have them parked "automatically"
from the filter options.

Finally, 1700 messages sound a bit too much. There may be (there were)
memory management problems in TB if the message base is that large.

Guys, the only thing that really sux in TB is the IMAP/secure POP3
support. These guys hace got to do something about this because IMAP
and secure connections are being widely used in universities and other
institutions.
