You are perfectly OK not to use the new feature if that doesn't suit you, but that 
doesn't give you right to "shut" others who want to use the feature.

I for one don't use html mails often (may be less than 1% of the time), but it's good 
to know it's there when I want to use it once in a blue moon, and I don't have to run 
MS (who know what) programs just to send a html e-mail message.
