Hello Richard,

Saturday, February 8, 2003, 2:46 AM, you continued this thread on
html, TB! & my suggestion:

RW> Does that really do what I was asking?

I thought it did.

RW> I want the message downloaded but to have the HTML attachment
RW> removed _after_ downloading.

Oh.

RW> If I read your message correctly _all_ messages with HTML
RW> attachments will not be downloaded.

Not exactly. What happens is: All messages containing the string
<html> in the first 25 lines will be de-selected for downloading by
the Mail Dispatcher. That is, if you want, you can let them be
eliminated automatically w/o downloading them.

Alternatively, you can override the automatic "Set for delete w/o
downloading" (your default) and check the "Receive" box manually,
for mail you want to receive (where the importance you place on the
author or the author's message is greater than your hate of (or
aversion or disdain for) html mail).

Incidentally, most of the spam that shows up on my Mail Dispatcher
is html, and most of the html I find there is spam. This makes it
hard for me to accept html as a valid option (aside from the bloat
and degrading of original TB! cultural pardigm. TB! might as well add
a website creator and throw the desires of the purists (mostly long
term TB! users) out the window. Perhaps a coffee maker could be
added also.

IAC, al fin y al cabo this a moot question: the html editor is real
and it's there, like it or not (although I haven't downloaded the
beta myself - I'm taking the word of others).

RW> No
RW> good I'm afraid as far too many people send important text
RW> messages with HTML.

RW> Whilst looking very useful I would rather have all messages in my
RW> inbox. For instance I use the excellent Spampal for spam and I wish
RW> someone could design a similar HTMLpal for a similar purpose:-)

RW> Just in case of the very rare (but increasingly possible) chance that
RW> an important message should not have a separate HTML attachment I
RW> wouldn't want to miss it.
