I am guessing that what you mean is that you create an addressbook entry with the name of the group, and then enter all of the email addresses in the email address box. If I am right, then this will not work - TB only uses the first entry in the list. You need to create separate addressbook entries for each of your addresses, and then form then into separate address book groups. The Help system and FAQ will cover this in more detail.
