Standardization for support reasons. If you run an IT department you don't want the overhead of supporting a dozen different clients. Not to mention compatibility issues between clients, versions of PGP etc. etc. Standardization internally makes a lot of sense from a support perspective.
Not standardizing can cause fun with role accounts etc. too.
