30.000 shouldn't be that much - I have 37.000 messages just in TBUDL folder (takes about 10 seconds to open the first time, 3 seconds every next time). Just make sure that your drive is defragmented, the message bases easily become *very* fragmented, and that slows down The Bat significantly...
