The little window is called the Connection Center. On the menu bar, look at Options --> Preferences --> General. There are options related to Display Connection Center - Automatically, Always and Hide. Either Automatically or Always should give you back the window. > I have The Bat version 1.53d and Win2K SP3 The latest version is 1.62r. It's a great place and I've always found all the answers I need. > Another thing: > I have about 13000 Emails in 5 Accounts. There is a procedure The Bat! performs called "Compress" which clears up wasted space and improves performance. You can find it under Folders --> Compress All Folders on the menu bar. When it is done, a little message box will appear telling you how many folders were processed and how many bytes were saved. Try that out. If you haven't been compressing, chances are that will help you out. There is an option under Account --> Properties --> Options called "Compress on exit". If checked for each account, the folders will automatically compress on exit. That means I don't have to remember to compress. > The mail folder is on the server, but I have a 100 MBit LAN. I'm no network expert, but try "compress" first before you try to determine if your network has a problem. > Would it be a good idea to move all the old messages to an "archve"-account? > But I have one account wiht only 70 messages and it is also very slow. Try compress first. Archiving is always an option but I doubt it will solve this problem. Someone recommended The Mailbag Assistant to me for archiving. I haven't used it yet but you can find it here. http://www.fookes.com/mailbag/ > I am thinking to switch to another Email-Programm, or maybe a newer > Version of The Bat is faster? Try compress first. Do I sound like a broken record? :) -- Best Regards, Terry Using The Bat! v1.62r on Windows 2000 5.0 Build 2195 Service Pack 3 ________________________________________________ Current version is 1.62r | "Using TBUDL" information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
