Since version 1.60 you RO> can set this for all folders in the account settings. And in the RO> folder properties you can do this per folder (compress on exit). The ``problem'' is that this specific set of features leads to bigger problems. Once I start up the bat, I don't exit because it takes too long to count the messages in each folder during startup. Without exiting, the nice action-on-exit is never called, which ends with me running purge/compress all folders whenever I get a chance. To my mind, two options should exist. First, a per folder option to be included in the count or not. I have old emails that I dig through frequently, but the contents aren't changed so I don't really care how many messages there are. Second, lazy counting. Do the count during idle periods, and once on-demand when a folder is entered. During the idle periods (when minimized to the systray, etc), the first level folders and shared folders should be counted first. Then opened subfolders, the rest of the subfolders, etc. Make the numbers light blue or pink to signify a partial count, then change it to bold black when all the folders have been counted.
