In my not-so-limited email experience I would agree that rejecting *all* HTML seems draconian. But if it works for you, so be it. However, I can't agree with the sweeping statement that "HTML in e-mail is spam". As the HTML newsletters I subscribe to are in fact "solicited" and not commercial, they do not fit the standard definition of spam as non-solicited commercial email. Nor are my uninformed/untrained family/friends sending me unsolicited commercial email when they send me HTML emails.
