so far i figured out the following:

i was wrong, i had set 8bit encoding to none, use 8bit. but i was
using PGP (w/o smime doesn't matter). when i send the mail it's mimed
automatically. the incoming mail then is quote-printable and pgp's
lost completly.

fun enough but this happens not to all yahoogroups, while i've one
where it's like i described, i also have another where my pgp does
work and the mail's incoming exactly as i have sent it out.

when i do disable pgp everything works fine.

[hours later]

to be honet :S i give up... i tried nearly every combination of
encoding (8bit, qp & b64), attachment settings (mime b65 & uue), PGP
on/off and SMIME on/off but i am unable to reproduce the error on the
group i created. i simply know that turning off pgp and smime fixes my
problem but i am still unsure why...
