I hope the moderator is satisfied with this method of transfer.

I always (say 10 years), partitioned my hard drive to 4-5 segments to keep the
operating system and Windows on one drive, my Data, photos etc on other, and all
other programs again on another. I also had a virtual drive for
keeping initially the original programs downloaded before I saved it
to a CD. Further I had another drive for the swap file. I may want to
add Linux to another drive to fool around with it.

Now with the Win2K the dealer suggested not to partition, but did not
explain why. I looked around and found basically 2 partition programs
the Partition Magic I used in the past, and another from Paragon:
Partition Manager. Neither is a shareware (only fully crippled demo-s
are available for download), the latter is somewhat cheaper than the former.

Martin Webster appears to be against partitioning, but I am not sure
is this against using Partition Magic or any partitioning?

Any expert or experienced users recommendation is welcomed before I
 mess up the new computer.
